Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Approximately 5 times a year a patient will present to us with "Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss". This requires an expedient action plan involving treatment with steroids. Prompt medical treatment and diagnosis will ensure the best chances of recovery.

Outcomes are better when:

1. The hearing loss is considered to be mild or moderate in degree.

2. Treatment is received within 7 days.

Recovery in hearing will occur 1–2 weeks after treatment.  After 4 weeks, it is very unlikely that treatment will recover any functional hearing.

Always see a qualified Audiologist when you have problems with your hearing.
